FAQs

Why is Bell’s Sports Centre closed?

Large parts of Bell’s Sports Centre have been significantly affected by the flood waters during the weekend of the 7th and 8th October.

When will Bell’s Sports Centre reopen?

Perth and Kinross Council met on Wednesday 15th May 2024 and approved the withdrawal of sport and leisure services and activity at Bell's Sport Centre from August 2024.

The Council decided earlier this year that Bell’s, Dewars Centre and Perth Leisure Pool should be consolidated into one facility, so any reinstatement of Bell’s would be at best temporary and cost in the region of £2 million, which is simply uneconomic. What is more, Bell’s has already suffered two significant floods since 2020 and this would leave an uninsured and uninsurable risk of yet another flood event.

What alternative facilities are available?

There’s still plenty of ways to stay active in Perth at our other venues which include gym, swim and sportshall options. You can view the range of activities available at all our venues including opening times here.

What alternative facilities are available as part of my Fitness Membership?

Your Fitness Membership is valid at all Live Active venues, with gym, swim and fitness classes included in your membership. You can view the range of activities available at all our venues including opening times here.

What alternative facilities are available for Active Energy Members?

Your Active Energy Membership is valid at all Live Active venues, with gym*, swim, sportshall, ice skating and selected fitness classes included in your membership.

You can view the range of activities available here.

*Under 16s can use our other Live Active gyms, however they must be accompanied by someone age 16+ who has completed a gym induction. Please see below for information on supervised gym access at North Inch Community Campus and Perth Leisure Pool.

Where can I play sports such as Badminton now?

North Inch Campus in Perth is available for a range of sports including, badminton, table tennis, tennis/short tennis, basketball, 5-a-side and more in their indoor sportshalls and outdoor pitches.  The Campus is open Monday to Friday 17:00 - 21:00 and Saturday & Sunday 09:00 - 13:00.

For those looking for squash courts, courts are available in Live Active Loch Leven, Kinross, Strathearn Campus, Crieff and Breadalbane Campus, Aberfeldy.  We recommend booking in advance for all activities.

Can I use the gym at other venues if I am under 16?

If you are under 16, you cannot use the gym without adult supervision (a parent or guardian who has completed a gym induction). Supervised sessions are available for 12-15 year olds at Perth Leisure Pool on Wednesdays and Fridays 16:00-18:00 and at North Inch Community Campus on Saturdays.

There’s still plenty of ways that Active Energy members can stay active with swimming, sportshall, ice skating and selected fitness classes included in the membership. You can view the minimum age for fitness classes here

Active Energy members can also freeze their membership by completing this form.

How do I book classes and sessions at other venues?

View fitness class times, gym sessions and pool availability timetables here. Select your preferred venue from the dropdown list, then select which timetable you would like to view. If a session has a yellow ‘Book Now’ button, follow the link to book into the session. If there’s no ‘Book Now’ button it means the session doesn’t need to be booked in advance.

You can also view and book sessions via our App which is available on Google Play and the App Store. If you’ve already got the App set up for Bell’s Sports Centre, you can add other venues by following our guide here

Will there be virtual classes available to do at home?

You can find a range of on-demand home workouts on our website here; with everything from HIIT to Core to Pilates there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Can I freeze my membership?

If you have a Fitness Membership, did you know that you can freeze your membership rather than cancel it; that way we can welcome you back to Bell’s Sports Centre when we fully reopen. If you would like to freeze your membership, please complete this form and we’ll do the rest.

Please note, if you are planning to attend our fitness classes or are using any other Live Active venue, we would encourage you to keep your membership active, ensuring that you have access to the fantastic range of benefits that our membership offers.  However, if you choose to freeze your membership, you can still pay as you go.

If you have any questions about your membership, please contact us at [email protected]
