Physical activity is everyone’s business! In 2003 ‘Let’s make Scotland more active’ the Scottish strategy for physical activity was published. It set out the challenge for the nation to increase its activity levels by 1% per year for the next 20 years to address the many negative health impacts that being inactive has such as heart disease, … It set out a vision for the people of Scotland to benefit from the many health and social gains that come from being active regularly. Physical activity can also be used to address many agendas alongside health and wellbeing.
Many inactive people need support to get on track. There is no single agency that can do this. Many people who would benefit from access to opportunities are being supported by other partners for health or social reasons. We use this as an opportunity to actively target those whose health will benefit most. Live Active Leisure aims:
Live Active Leisure work with a range of partners to develop and deliver innovative approaches to increasing activity levels to improve people’s health and address other needs that are highlighted as a priority in Perth and Kinross. Many programmes combine physical activity opportunities with input from other agencies as we know a holistic approach to health and wellbeing benefits everyone.
