Q. What fitness classes do you offer?
A. Live Active Leisure has 14 leisure venues throughout Perthshire, offering over 100 fitness classes per week.  To view the classes on offer simply go to the Classes section of the website.  We offer the following types of classes to suit all ages and abilities:

  • Calorie Killers - For those of you who want to feel the burn and more - not for the faint hearted!
  • Calorie Burners - Classes designed to burn calories - at whatever level you want!
  • Toning and Strength - Classes that compliment your aerobic ones - these will change your shape and tone your muscles.
  • Unwind and Re-energise - Feeling stressed?  These classes will relax you, improve your posture and increase your flexiblity.
  • Water Workouts - Great calorie burning classes that are easy on the joints because you're in the water.
  • Something a bit different - Not just a class - something a bit more!  Try something new today.
  • Close to Home - For those who want to exercise a bit closer to home.
  • Active Mums - From pregnancy to parenthood - classes that help you through the most exciting time of your life.
  • Active Outdoors - Taking exercise outdoors - enjoy the scenery while you live active.

Q. How will I know what classes are suitable for me?
A. Some of our classes detail ability levels as, such a Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.  Please also check the descriptions above and choose the category that most suits you. However if you are unsure about the level of any class, contact the venue before hand or speak to the instructor before the class about any concerns you may have.

Q. Do you apply age restrictions to classes?
A. Yes - Some classes are not suitable for young people under the age of 12, these include Circuits, BodyPump and Pilates which are only suitable for over 16’s.

Q. Do I have to book or can you turn up at the start of the class?
A. Booking is compulsory for some of our more popular classes, booking details will be clearly stated on the class programme.  Some classes, although they don't require booking, are popular, therefore it is suggested that you book in advance for all classes.

Spectrum members can book classes up to 14 days in advance and Live Active card holders can book up to 7 days in advance.  Bookings can be made by phoning the venue directly or in person.  We currently do not offer online bookings at all venues. However Live Active Rodney is now operating online bookings for members only.

Q. I am not a member of Live Active Leisure; can I attend your classes?
A. Yes - Anyone can attend our classes.  However there are different charges for people without a Live Active card.  To view our prices visit the Prices section of the website.

Q. How much do the classes cost?
A. Live Active Leisure operates level pricing for the following categories: Adult, Senior, Junior and Concession.  Classes for Spectrum Members are FREE. Please view this page for further information on pay and play prices.

Q. What do I wear to classes?
A. We advise that you wear appropriate trainers and comfortable clothing. 

Q. What are the benefits of participating in classes?
A. Every class is different but in general classes will:

  • Provide you with a whole body workout
  • Tone and shape muscle
  • Burn calories
  • Improve posture, core stability and strength
  • Improve your general fitness
  • Reduce stress
  • Meet new people with similar interests

Q. I have never exercised before, is there a class that will suit me?
A. We advise people who have never exercised before to refer to the ability key, looking specifically at Beginner classes.  Our instructors are always on hand to offer advice and guidance, if you are unsure of any classes on offer.

Q. How often should I attend classes?
A. This is entirely up to you and depends on how often you want to exercise and your goals.  It is recommended that you have one day rest between each class.

Q. I am pregnant can I still continue with exercise?
A. You should always seek advice from your GP on the type of training and exercise undertaken during pregnancy.  Many expectant mothers can exercise as normal for most of the pregnancy. It is extremely important that you advise the instructor at the start of the class of your condition.  Water based classes and swimming are excellent forms of exercise for pregnant women.  Some of our wet centres also offer Antenatal classes.
