Q. How far in advance can I book? A. You can book as far in advance as you like subject to the date being available. The minimum notice required is 2 weeks.
Q. What is your cancellation period? A. A full refund will be given for functions cancelled with a minimum of 7 days notice. We will offer a part refund of 50% of the hall fee if the event is cancelled within a minimum of 48hrs prior to the intended date. The full hire charge will be payable if organisers give less than 48hrs notice to cancel the event or do not turn up for the intended let on the day.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. We operate three seperate pricing levels. These are: Let Categories
Voluntary/Charity Let This price level applies to registered charity groups or voluntary community groups on a “not for profit” basis.
Standard Let This price level applies when there is no financial gain but the bookee is not associated to any voluntary/charity groups i.e private party let* (additional charges may apply see conditions of let - Section 18 for full details). Or when there is financial gain or profit to the bookee but they are deemed to provide a service to the community e.g exercise classes, art classes etc
Commercial Let This price level is charged when there is financial gain or profit to the bookee eg Retail of goods, sale of admission etc.
The company will decide into which category a let falls. We also charge different pricing ranges for peak and off peak bookings.
Off-Peak Time: 9.00am – 5.00pm (Monday to Friday) Peak Time: 5.00pm – 10.00pm (Monday to Friday)

Q. Do I need to give a deposit? A. A deposit is required for bookings which are of greater risk of damage to the building or contents. i.e private parties where large volumes of alcohol are being consumed. This deposit should be paid in cash no later than 48 hours before the event.
Q. Do I require a licence? A.You may require a licence if you are an event organiser planning to sell alcohol asking a local bar or hotel to provide this service for them. In this instance the licencee should apply for an ‘Occasional License’ from Perth & Kinross Council, 2 High Street, Perth. Live Active Leisure will require a copy of this. If you intend to bring your own bottle a license is not required. For more information please see our 'Special Event Arrangements’ which details specific information for the hirer.
Q. Do I Require Insurance? A. Public Liability Insurance is required by clubs, organisations and individuals, who may, inadvertently cause harm to others. One individual within a club may not knowingly or deliberately cause harm to another individual within the club resulting in liable action.
It is also possible that participants at a separate event in another part of the hall could be affected by something in a communal area i.e. kitchen or foyer.
Performing Rights Society (PRS) is the company responsible for ensuring music writers receive royalties when their music is played in public. Every year, LAL must submit an annual return to declare all events with music.
Every hall is licensed to play music for which there is a charge. There are many different charges depending on the size of hall, the type of event, the money taken from ticket sales, the number of people attending and whether the music is live or pre-recorded. Individuals need not have a separate license.
