The squash courts 1, 2 and 4 are now operating as normal, with normal heating now in place. Squash court 3 will remain closed until further notice, following the small fire in this area that took place recently.
A small fire was detected in a ceiling void of the squash court area of Bells Sports Centre recently.
The evacuation procedure was put in place and all customers were safely taken from the facility. The fire service attended and the fire was quickly extinguished – damage has been limited to the squash court area, which will remain closed until further investigations and repair works are completed.
LAL Chief Executive Jim Moyes commented: “I am grateful for the quick response of all concerned which ensured the damage was contained to a small area in the squash court. Centre staff remained on site overnight to prepare for the early commencement of remedial works. I am pleased that all other facilities within the Centre will be open as normal and the incident will not impact on services and the Scottish National Badminton Championships due later this week and weekend will not be affected”.
Whilst investigations and repair works continue, Live Active Leisure hope to accommodate squash customers in the remaining courts at Bell’s or with an offer of court space at other facilities in Kinross or Crieff.
