Perth & Kinross Sports Awards

Every year Live Active Leisure host the annual Perth and Kinross Sports Personality of the Year Awards ceremony where we celebrate the success of our athletes, teams, coaches and volunteers.

  • Entries will be judged on achievements from 1 Jan -31 Dec 2019.
  • Please use the specific Award Criteria as a guide to writing your nomination and include any supplementary information to enhance the nomination.
  • The panel can only make a judgement on the information provided on the form, so please ensure you clearly state why your nominee deserves the award (the Sports Personality of the Year Award is an exception to this).
  • The sport must be officially recognised by Sportscotland.
  • Nominees must be a resident in Perth and Kinross for at least 6 months prior to the event and/or be affiliated to a club/sport in Perth and Kinross.
  • The Awards Team reserves the right to seek verification on the information included in the nomination form.
  • Nominations via online form to be received by 17th January 2020.

The following awards are available:

SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY THORNTONS

• Must be 18 years or over.
• Has achieved considerable success in their chosen sport in a competitive environment in 2019.

SCHOOL TEAM OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY ACTIVE SCHOOLS

Awarded to a school team that has been successful in local, national or international schools competition during 2019. Please note that you can nominate more than one team per school.

• All pupils must all be from the same school.
• Based on success relevant to level at which the team participates.
• Based on results of the team and not results of individuals who make up the team.

GEORGE MORTIMER LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD SPONSORED BY PERTH & KINROSS SPORTS COUNCIL

Achievement Award that is presented to a dedicated individual who has shown a considerable commitment to sport.

COACH OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY SPRINTERZ

This award will go to the coach who has been committed to providing the highest standard of coaching in 2019, whether it’s with individuals or teams and at any participation level i.e. open to school, club, regional or international level coaches.

• The coach has a positive and encouraging attitude that has inspired and made an impact on others.
• Holds a National Governing Body coaching qualification.

CLUB OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY STEVE BROWN ELECTRICAL LTD

This will be awarded to the Club who have made a significant impact to the development of their club in 2019.

• The club is open to all sectors of the community.
• Committed to recruiting, retaining and recognising volunteers and coaches.
• Can evidence ongoing development of the club.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY THE PERTH TROPHY SHOP

This will be awarded to an individual who has given up a substantial amount of time to volunteer in local sports in any capacity in 2019.

• They will have made a significant impact to a club/local community group/organisation or school.
• Shown a commitment to personal development, teamwork and supporting the development of others.

YOUNG FEMALE & YOUNG MALE SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY ALISON WILSON

• Must be under 18 years old.
• Have achieved considerable success in their chosen sport within a competitive environment in 2019.
• Made a significant impact in their sport or team.

DISABILITY SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY SMALL CITY BIG PERSONALITY

This award is open to sports people with a physical, learning or sensory disability.

• Have achieved considerable success in their chosen sport within a competitive environment in 2019.
• Made a significant impact within their sport or team.

YOUNG COACH OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY PERTH COLLEGE UHI

To recognise a Young Coach who has shown outstanding commitment and enthusiasm towards coaching in 2019.

• Must be under the age of 25.
• Has had a significant impact on the individuals or teams they coach.
• Coaching could be within a school or club setting.

OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY LIVE ACTIVE LEISURE

To recognise a referee, umpire, technical official or match official that has shown commitment throughout 2019 and excelled in their own field at any level of sporting competition.

• Has a positive and encouraging attitude that has inspired and made an impact on others.
• Holds a National Governing Body qualification for officiating.
• Open to school, club, regional, national or international level officials.

CHUCK HAY TEAM OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY SPRINGFIELD PROPERTIES

This will be awarded to a team that has been successful in local, national or international competition during 2019.

• The team must be of amateur status.
• This award is open to adult and junior teams.
• More than one team per club can be nominated.
• Based on success relevant to level at which the team participated.
