Highland Perthshire Gears Up For Another Fantastic Multi Sport Weekend
The annual Live Active Leisure Aberfeldy Sprint Triathlon takes place on Sunday 22nd May and for the second year running we have extended the award-winning event to bring a weekend long multi-sporting event to the area with the Junior Aquathlon taking place on Saturday 21st.
The only one of its kind in Tayside, the Live Active Leisure Junior Aquathlon is a fun event designed to introduce juniors and youths into multi-sport disciplines. Open to 8 - 16 year olds it includes a pool based swim which leads straight into a closed road outdoor run.
These events reflect the growing trend for multi-discipline sporting events and the quality reputation enjoyed by our Highland Perthshire Race Circuit.
Richard Pearson, Events and Activities Manager for Live Active Leisure, commented, “We are delighted with the response to the Junior Aquathlon and as always, interest from the Triathlon Community for Sunday’s sprint event is excellent although there are a few remaining spaces should anyone wish to book a last minute space.
Volunteers from the Aberfeldy Community have once again been integral to the success in the first event of our annual of our Highland Perthshire Race Series and without their support it simply wouldn’t happen. This year the Multi Sport Festival will need around 100 volunteer stewards and route safety marshals, and they have all come from the community.”
The Sprint Triathlon Event sees a 750m Swim held in the Breadalbane Community Campus Swimming Pool. Entrants then tackle a 20km cycle that sees them take a circular route taking in views of Loch Tay and Taymouth Castle. The third and final part of the triathlon is a 5km run on quiet roads above Aberfeldy giving some of the best views of Tay Valley.
Registration is open from 8:30am and is held within the event village at Breadalbane Community Campus, and the winning presentation will take place around 3:00pm within the Community Campus.
