Gymnastics2017

The 2019 Perth and Kinross Gymnastics Championships was held at Bell's Sports Centre on Sunday 16th June and saw more than 300 gymnasts taking part, leading to a very exciting day of competition.  

Gymnasts from Ace, Auchterarder and Tay Valley Gymnastics Clubs with gymnasts from Live Active Leisure programmes competed at three different levels – Foundation, Beginners and Intermediate and were judged on Floor and Vault routines to see who would be crowned ‘Perth & Kinross Champion’ for 2019.

In the foundation competition, which is for gymnasts who participate in no more than 2 hours of gymnastics per week. Live Active Kinross Gymnasts had a great competition with Sophie Reville winning the 8 years competition and Christina Sloan taking the 9 years.  Elena Sanderson and Roisin Kelleher both from Live Active Bell’s won the 10 years and 11 years competition with Auchterarder’s Alexa Hope winning the 12 years. 

The 6/7 years Beginner competition is for gymnasts who are on the first pathway of performance gymnastics.  Many of the youngsters were taking part in their first competition, which was won by Isla McKerchar of Auchterarder Gymnastics Club.  The 8 years and 9 years beginner Championship was won by Fearne Simpson and Isabella Morson of Auchterarder Gymnastics Club with Fearne receiving a Merit Score. 

In the 10 years beginner’s competition was won by Eilidh Dallas from Auchterarder with her fellow club gymnast Chloe Dawson winning the 11 years.  The 12/13 Beginner group was shared between Tay Valley Gymnasts Ellie Smith and Bailey Batchelor with the 14+ years Beginners won by Live Active Crieff’s Beth Taylor.  In the boys’ competition, Rocco Cramb from Auchterarder Gymnastics Club won the U10 Beginners competition.  

The Intermediate championships saw a high level of competition with Zoe Leishman from Auchterarder winning the 10 years competition and Aoife McIver winning the 11 years.  Auchterarder’s Brodie MacPherson was winner of the U12 Boys Intermediate competition and Tom Kelly from Live Active Bell’s winning the 12+ Boys Intermediate title.  The 12/13 year girls competition was won by Ellen Lacoux from Tay Valley Gymnastics Club with Rachael Devine, also from Tay Valley winning the 14+yrs title to round off a great day of gymnastic achievement.
