Support From Our Customers Raises A Smile!
As an independent ‘not for profit’ company with charitable status, here at Live Active Leisure we rely on membership payments and casual users for more than 50% of our annual income.
All profits are reinvested back into our venues and services across the area, allowing our 600 strong team to deliver many additional activity opportunities to the communities we serve. These include projects and services such as free swimming for under-fives, the Talented Athlete Scheme and subsidised activities for priority groups.
Rising to the challenge that lockdown has placed on our income stream we have partnered with Amazon Smile, allowing us to collect up to 0.5% of the net purchase price of eligible AmazonSmile products when supporters select Live Active Leisure as their chosen charity.
Kelly Parker, our Marketing & Communications Manager explained, “Live Active Leisure is a registered charity with every penny made, being reinvested back into our venues and to fund the services we provide to help our communities to live active.
“As we move towards the second full month of closure of our venues we have had to consider alternative means of generating income during the crisis. It is our aim to remain in contact with all of our customers, offering a virtual service to help them stay both physically and mentally well while in lockdown. Therefore, it is crucial that we consider all options available to support us in this endeavour.
“Amazon’s sales soared in the first three months of the year, as more home-bound people shopped online. The Amazon Smile partnership allows us to tap into that market at no cost to us, and no cost to our supporters – it’s a real win win!”
AmazonSmile allows LAL supporters to shop as normal with the added benefit being that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to the charitable Trust. Millions of products are eligible for donations.
If you shop on Amazon, and would like to support LAL during the lockdown then sign up here - it is free and easy to use and you could help us make a real difference to the communities we serve.
To use the service, simply go to smile.amazon.co.uk from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to smile.amazon.co.uk to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile. Millions of products on AmazonSmile are eligible for donations to charities by Amazon. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for smile.amazon.co.uk donation” on their product detail pages.
As well as tapping into this existing resource the team at Live Active Leisure has been encouraged by the generosity of members who have chosen to continue paying their membership fee during lockdown or who have donated via their charity checkout page.
The offer from an initial wave of customers prompted the Company to launch Live Active Legends, a scheme that recognised those members who are contributing towards the long-term financial health of the Trust.
Kelly continued, “We’re incredibly grateful for every donation we receive and have chosen to name our donors ‘Live Active Legends’. And we give them legend status for good reason. They’re helping us deliver life changing services from teaching children to swim, right up to keeping the most vulnerable in our community connected through activity.
“Our customers and team members often refer to themselves as a fitness family and this coming together of people to offer support during this crisis shows just how deeply that bond runs.
“Live Active Leisure is an integral part of the wellbeing of Perth and Kinross residents and it is rewarding to know just how much our customers think of the services we provide and the people who deliver them. We’d like to offer a very public thanks to everyone who has helped.”
